Living the life of dreams! I have my own studio in glorious
south Florida, a wonderful husband, two successful
daughters, and my two babies: Raisin and Mae.
Born in Bay City, MI, on June 16, 1946, I grew up in
Essexville, MI. I got excited when I got into 5th grade and
a teacher recognized my artistic talents rather than just
my ability to shoot a rifle. At that point I knew I was going
to be an artist. There was no question. That was my
destiny. In my humble way, I started gearing my path
toward being an artist even though I did not know what that
entailed. I only knew I COULD DO IT. Art made high school
possible for me.
After high school. I went to the professional art school,
Kendall School of Design in Grand Rapids, MI. From there I
moved on to another aspect of my life. I raised my two
girls, concentrated on my marriage, and began attending St.
Cloud State University, MN. Right after graduation I moved
to Seattle and I opened my own business: Urs Wholesale
Fine Arts which grew to be Urs Schuman Fine Arts Limited
where I learned the bulk of my business skills. While I
enjoyed this aspect of my career, I am an artist. I felt
the studio calling me back. I was invited as a visiting artist
to explore the wonders of ancient Egypt. Upon returning
home, the calling guided me to Los Angeles, where I set up
a studio gallery in historic Villa Riveria. My second trip to
Egypt was cut short by a traumatic head on collision that
brought me back stateside, and eventually brought me to
The Babes Series.
Ending the Babe Series was a cerebral hemorrhage which
led to The Music Series and a Valentine Show. Healing left
me itching for more travel.
After a short vacation in Costa Rica,I was inspired. I had
to create in this jungle oasis. I took a 6 month hiatus and
set up studio in paradise. It was in this paradise I met my
current husband, the man of my dreams, Bradley.
We returned together to LA and, as most artists do, we
went broke. We lost everything and had nothing, but our
undying love for each other. My sister offered us a home
with her in sunny south Florida, so we packed up and moved
across country to begin rebuilding our lives. Urs Art Studio
Gallery is the fruit of that work. Welcome to my world.
